How Scouts Earn on PostAi
A plain-English companion to the Scout Earnings Calculator. Illustrative only — not a guarantee of income.
PostAi turns the streets you already drive into a quoting business. You don't carry inventory, knock doors, or make cold calls. You snap a property, the app resolves the address and pulls property data, an instant service quote is generated, and a shareable flyer (printed mailer + QR code) is produced. When a homeowner scans the flyer and books the contractor, you earn.
The earning loop
The cycle is short and repeatable: snap → quote → flyer → deliver → earn. You capture a property from the cab of your truck, PostAi generates the quote and flyer, the flyer reaches the homeowner (door, mailer, or QR share), and when that homeowner confirms and books, a credit lands on your account. The more properties you work and the better your local service mix, the more flyers convert.
What drives your number
Four levers move scout earnings, and they're exactly the sliders in the calculator. The first is volume — how many properties you scout per day. A scout working dense neighborhoods can capture dozens in a couple of hours. The second is consistency — how many days a week you're out. The third is earning per booked flyer, which depends on the service and the contractor's rate sheet. The fourth, and the one most worth improving, is booking rate: the share of flyers that turn into a booked job. Booking rate climbs when quotes are accurate, the service is in season, and the flyer reaches the right homeowner at the right moment.
A worked example
Take a scout doing 15 properties a day, 5 days a week. That's 75 flyers a week. If 8% of them converted and each booked flyer earned about $12 in referral credit, that would work out to around $72 that week. Every number in that sentence is an assumption, not a promise — actual conversion depends on your area, the season, and contractor availability, and can be zero. Cash payouts begin once Stripe Connect launches. Run your own assumptions in the calculator by dragging the sliders.
What raises booking rate
Booking rate is where the leverage is. Scout in season — push the services homeowners are already thinking about (AC tune-ups in June, gutter cleaning in October). Work tighter routes so flyers land on homes that actually match the service. Lean on confirm-and-earn: homeowners who confirm their address and share with a neighbor expand your reach for free. And keep quotes honest — a transparent price breakdown is what turns a scanned flyer into a booked job.
The honest caveats
Earnings vary by market, season, service mix, and homeowner behavior. The calculator is a planning tool, not a promise. Some weeks convert above the model; some below. Treat the output as a directional estimate to help you decide how much time scouting is worth in your area — not as committed income.
